From the President
Happy 2010! I trust everyone survived the Holidays and are busy stitching again. Every year I say the same thing-I love the holidays! I love it when they are over! I know some people have winter doldrums in January, but I view it as a time to catch up on stitching, reading, and whatever else has been neglected.
We're excited for the New Year for the Swan Guild. We have several projects in the works for which ALL Swans may participate. The first is in the newsletter as a "teaser". We don't have the price yet, but will send out a notice in January as to the cost and deadline dates. We are so fortunate and grateful that Giulia Manfredini has donated this exclusive design for Swan members, all proceeds which will go to sampler preservation. We are planning to sell it as a kit. Look for more information in January!
Swans were able to donate $1000 to the Museum of National Folk Art in Sante Fe, New Mexico that was used to remount 4 samplers to get ready for their exhibit, Material World: Textiles and Dress from the Collection, which opened December 20. The sampler collection of 480 samplers at the museum is unique in the United States because it contains almost exclusively examples from Europe, Latin America, and Africa. Pictures are included in the newsletter.
Many more good things are in store for you this year! Stay tuned!
Sandra
