2011 Exclusive Christmas in July Ornament

"Christmas in Virginia"
Designed by Betsy Morgan

We wish to sincerely thank Betsy Morgan for graciously designing Christmas in Virginia, our exclusive ornament for Christmas in July 2011! We very much appreciate Betsy’s expertise and generosity. Betsy writes, “I wanted to design a needlebook that could also be used as an ornament and I wanted the construction to be fairly simple. I bought the green and white Gingham linen at a seminar boutique on a whim and thought it would be fun to use for the ornament. The inspiration for the design came from my living on a farm in rural Virginia. The cardinal is the state bird of Virginia as well as several other states. We have lots of cardinals and our farm sits at the base of a ridge which is covered with forest. Looking out on the ridge inspired the evergreen trees. We had 94 inches of snow last winter which is most unusual for Virginia, so I HAD to include snowflakes! We rarely have a white Christmas but we had almost two feet of snow on the ground last year.”

The price of the ornament kit is $25 and all of the proceeds are used for sampler preservation. Because of your generous support in past years, we've been able to donate substantial sums to many prestigious museums for this purpose. We've been pleased and rewarded with the reports we've received from grateful curators as to how the donations were used. Reports and pictures of the samplers we've helped to preserve can be found on our website. We very much appreciate your continued support. One of our newest members was inspired to join us specifically because of our belief in sampler conservation and the promotion of sampler making. Please see the coupon page in the newsletter to order and for more info on the kit contents. The deadline is April 15, 2011.
